HOOP ART & BUTTERFLIES
Summer is here and so is our first craft project of the Summer of 2011!
I have been s-l-o-w-l-y working on finalizing the decorating details in Izzy's room. I'm currently working on a "gallery wall." One of the things that is going on her gallery wall is our first summer craft.
I have seen some ideas here and there using needlepoint "hoops." I found a couple at a local thrift store, without a plan in mind. Then, I saw Meg's awesome butterfly craft project and decided to combine the two!
Here are the supplies I used:
embroidery hoop, fabric, mod podge, scrapbook paper, butterfly punch, embroidery thread, and hot glue gun
I bought a Martha Stewart butterfly punch for 40% off at Joann's. It's a very cool punch.
Izzy and I picked out some scrapbook paper and started punching away. Then we carefully bent the butterflies in the middle and hot glued them on top of another butterfly, giving them a 3D effect.
Then, using the Mod Podge, we glued the butterflies to the fabric. It works really well.
Then I pondered what I would "write" onto Izzy's hoop, came up with something we liked, and got to work...
You'll have to wait for the end result of this craft project until Izzy's "gallery wall" is revealed. Until then, here's just a little peek at how it turned out. {I love it, by the way!}
Happy Crafting!!!
