Wood Pallet Shelf

Hello.  I'm glad that it is Thursday, because I am ready for Friday!  :-)

Anyway, on to today's post...

I wondered what I could do with a wood pallet.
I've seen a bed made from a pallet, which is so cool.  But I didn't need a bed.  I asked my hubby to bring home a pallet for me recently even though I wasn't yet sure what I was going to do with it.  Then, inspiration struck!  With Joel's help, I made a shelf.  You wanna see how I did it?!
1.  Start with your pallet.  Joel said that this was actually one of the "smaller" ones.  They are very heavy!

2.  My cute, hard workin' hubby then used his chain saw to cut the pallet in half.

... and this is what we are left with:

While I don't have any pictures of the middle process, I painted the pallet white next.  Just one coat -- and it's not perfect.  I wanted the little holes, nails and part of the wood color to show through.

Then Joel pre drilled holes in the bottom of the pallet so that we could put knobs in to hang stuff on.

Then we screwed in 6 different knobs (all from Hobby Lobby 50% off).

Here's what we ended up with:

I decided to add a little "embellishments" to it and so this is what it looks like right now:

This was a fun project to do and pretty inexpensive.
(The kids are using the knobs to hang their backpacks on.)
