Right now...

Right now I am sitting at the kitchen table.  Joel is asleep, preparing to go out and snow plow.  My kids are coloring with markers.  Eli is drawing a basketball player and Izzy is drawing a "pet forest."  We have one last day off before heading back to school.

Anyway, I LOVE when my kids find something constructive to do on their own.  I've been getting frustrated with one child in particular because of the "I'm bored," "there's nothing to do," "why can't I play the Wii?."  And so forth...  Um, did we not just open Christmas gifts?!  Seriously... go find something to play with or I will pick something out for you to do - like reading or writing or math!  I think some changes may need to be made in our home regarding electronics, game systems, etc.  I just read this blog post about Christmas and gift giving and wants and it was very good. thought provoking. real.  I could relate.   

This year I am not making any kind of resolutions or goals.  Why?!  Because I know for me they don't work.  But there are some changes I want to make... work towards.  Improvements really.  Characteristics I want to work on... patience, contentment, simplicity.  I know that God has much more planned for me- that he wants from me- and I need to really listen to him... spend time with him... dive into his word.
