I went on a class field trip with my daughter today. We went to an outdoor/indoor nature area. (For privacy reasons, I choose not to give the specific name of the place.) To be perfectly honest, I felt guilty for not going on the other field trips earlier this year, so I decided to join this one... not because I really wanted to. I like the outdoors, I love being outside, but I'm not really a "nature" person I guess. I heard the words poison ivy, ticks, and spiders and I realized this probably wasn't a great idea. Ugh! (When I was a girl, I had a very bad case of poison ivy... like all over my face bad. I was miserable and ever since have been a bit afraid of the 3 leafed plant.) Anyhow, what is important is that my daughter was happy I was there and wanted me to be with her. So, in that respect, it was a good thing.
My daughter's class is part of a small group of area schools that are participating in a program to get kids outside! Wonderful! This field trip was a part of that group. We spent 4 hours outside. It was a beautiful day and I learned a few new facts. Here are a few pictures of the day.
Pulling weeds.
Using a magnifying glass.
Nature walk.
Trying to catch a butterfly.
