DIY Chalkboard

I don't really care for chalk, BUT I do like the look of a cute chalkboard.  (I don't like the feeling of chalk residue on my fingers and it's so dusty/ messy!)  Anyway, with Joel's help, I made my own chalkboard and I loooovvvee it!

First, I found a frame on clearance at Hobby Lobby.  $14

I spray painted the frame red, in my slippers.

Then we went to Lowe's to get some masonite board. It is sold in a 4 x 8 foot piece, but we asked them to cut it to a 2 x 3 foot piece to fit into the new frame.
Then I used chalkboard paint on the masonite board.  Go here to get further directions.

Joel put the new chalkboard into the frame with little tiny nails and hung it on the wall.

I keep the chalk in a bird's nest that I found in one of our trees.

It is fantastical!  And, it is MY chalkboard only.  No kids allowed.  They have their own to draw on.  I want to keep the mess to a minimum.

It's easy... give it a try.  :-)
