If you don't already read Sarah's blog, Clover Lane, you've got to check it out! She has written a great, thought provoking, strong post titled "What About our Girls? Childhood Cut Short." It was so real and straight from her heart and full of truth, I think. It made me think about what my childhood was like and what my 8 year daughter's childhood is like and what I want for her.
Please, go read her post HERE.
Here are some things I've learned as a mom:
1- Choose your battles... I'm still learning this one.
2 - You are a parent, not a friend, to your child.
3 - Encourage the importance of choosing the right friends.
4 - Don't be afraid to say no.
5 - Life is not fair, and your child should know that.
6 - Pray daily for your kids.
7 - Talk to your kids, don't brush it aside for later.
8 - Being a Mom is the toughest job in the world, and the BEST job in the WORLD!

And you are a GREAT mom!!! I read the clover lane post. It really struck a chord. Just the other day, A and I were talking about how common it is to see young girls (10, 11, 12...) walking around in grown-up clothes, saying bad words, and reading books that I just read last year... It's scary to think about bringing kids into this world nowadays. Girls AND boys.
You're doing a great job!
Love ya!
Yes, you are a FABULOUS mom!!!
What an awesome, powerful post! It makes me thankful for you moms who share these values....for your understanding that it is okay to dare to be different in today's world. And I pray that you will be able to continue to stand strong in your convictions/faith and with one another.
Hugs and kisses, Mom
Oh how I LOVE Clover Lane! :)
Although I don't have a daughter, I loved this post & it hit home.. as I am constantly seeing young girls wanting to grow up too fast.. wish that all kids would get a chance at a wholesome childhood! :(
