Summer Craft 2011 - #4

We haven't been doing as many crafts this summer.  It's just been busy - fun, but busy!  But here's a cool art project that I found from the Pink and Green Mama website.

Black Glue and Watercolor Resist

First you need to mix black paint with glue.  I just kept adding black paint as necessary to make the glue black.  Shake it up real good... shake it up baby!

Next, draw your picture in pencil.

Then you trace the picture with your black glue.  Eli needed some help with this because you have to squeeze the glue bottle very carefully or it comes out in a big glob!

Let it dry.  We let ours sit overnight and then some.

Then, using your watercolor paints, start painting.  My rule was no white on the paper - everything had to be painted.

Here are the end results-

Izzy's ocean complete with shark, jellyfish, and treasure chest.

Eli's work truck with road and clouds.

It's pretty cool.  The black paint makes a great outline and we have plenty left to try again.  :-)

What a neat idea! I really like how the black glue outlines define the drawing so nicely...and I LOVE Izzy and Eli's drawings!

Love you! Mom
