fall banner & mantel

I've never had a fireplace mantel to decorate before, so I was pretty excited to decorate it for fall.  I didn't want to use the traditional black and orange colors or anything scary.  I first decided to make a banner with brown grocery bags, glitter, and burlap.

First, I cut out the part of the brown grocery bag that didn't have writing on it.  Then I crumpled it up into a ball and unfolded it over and over again and smoothed it out.  Next I traced the word F-A-L-L using letters I already had.  I spread tacky glue on the letters and sprinkled it with Martha Stewart glitter.

Next I cut out the burlap and hot glued the brown grocery bag letters on top.  And finally I added some orange pom pom trim with hot glue.  Easy peasy!

I was ready to add it to the mantel!  Here is what my mantle looked like before I changed it for fall:

Here is what it looks like now:

I think it needs some more pumpkins!

Happy Fall!

I love, love, love it! And it was even prettier seeing it in person with G/G today!!! Your home is so charming, warm, inviting and fragrant; lunch was scrumptious - we loved every minute being there. Thank you so much!!!

Love, your mama
